Lost Bird in Karori is reunited

ID: 182377

Honey was found alive and asked for help in the middle of the Makara Peak Mountain Park next day after missing at lunchtime. It was like 500 - 800 m away from the house. Unfortunately, the person who originally discovered her took only took photos because he was not aware of Lovebird. He thought that the bird was sick. However, he sent photos to his colleagues and discovered that this bird, Honey, was a missing lovebird. This information led him to give me a call because the person who informed him saw the flyer. The person who saw Honey as well as us went to look for Honey but we could not locate her anymore. I had asked cyclists on the site to look out for Honey, and gave him my number while I was distributing flyers into the post boxes nearby the place where Honey was found. Then, this cyclist who was weeding the area found Honey. I learned that it is critical to distribute flyers as soon as possible around your house, even knocking on each door by showing the photo of pet, vets, bird rescue groups, malls and even the place where could be out of reach for a bird, but high volumes of traffic because people do communicate each other. It is important to stay alert and act quick. As like many kind people advised me, it is critical to post to various and many Facebook pages as possible, and make sure to update any single event. I noted on my flyer that she could be coming up to people and ask for help, and offer bread. She exactly did this - ask for help - and the person who found her left bread at that stop. Honey came back to be an angel bird, but I am so thankful that I have her back in my arm. I really wish that your birds do come back home. I was also surprised that how communities are kind and helpful. So please trust your birds, and act quickly. Also, I appreciate people told me to "Don't give up" despite the fact that I was losing a hope to find Honey. Everybody's help and support kept me going. So please know that you can go through this difficult time with all the lovely people in a community that you are not alone in this. Please stay strong and hope that you will find your pets too. Hugs.
