Lost Cat in Waikanae Beach is reunited

ID: 177659

We have two Burmese cats, brothers Leo and Cozzie. They are American Burmese and we got them from a breeder in California back in 2015. As we lived in Tucson, AZ we drove out to collect our sweet kittens and they did good with the 8hr drive home.

When we chose to return to NZ at end of 2018 we knew we couldn’t leave our boys behind so we invested time and money into getting them transported from LA to Auckland where they spend 10 days in quarantine before flying down on Air Chatham to Kapiti Airport.

This transition was hard on them as they were indoor cats in Arizona and now are outdoor cats who are free to explore their neighbourhood and not get eaten by predators.

The last two weeks have been rough as Cozzie went missing a week ago and I found him in cat trap and then Leo goes missing this week. They have never gone missing before this so it was quite stressful for us all.

I did the neighbourhood door knock and walked the streets day and night calling him with a jar of treats that I rattled. Plus sent out numerous Facebook posts on lost pet pages and community pages.

It wasn’t until after 11:30pm our other cat Cozzie went outside and then not long after Leo turned up. We think Cozzie went looking for him, or maybe he was released.

So pleased to have our beautiful boy home with us. He’s currently still sleeping on our bed with his brother.

Will have to come up with a plan to not have either of them go missing again!
